P164B on its own is not an immediate engine-damaging fault, but the vehicle may enter a derated state (reduced power) and eventually a countdown timer will appear. Once the countdown reaches zero, the engine will not start again until the fault is repaired. For short journeys to a specialist, it is generally safe, but prolonged driving can lead to forced limp mode and possibly clog the SCR system if the quality issue is severe.
