We don't guess, and we don't rely on internet hearsay. Our expert panel is a group of independent Land Rover and Jaguar specialists who review every piece of technical content we publish — from failure mechanisms to cost estimates to diagnostic steps. They are working mechanics who rebuild these engines every day, and they are paid for their time, not for their opinions.

Read on for our selection criteria, the review workflow, and how we maintain editorial independence.

Who We Are — The Expert Panel

Our panel consists of working specialists who rebuild Land Rover, Range Rover and Jaguar engines for a living. They are not academics, journalists, or enthusiasts — they are the people you would trust to fix your car.

We do not publish names on this page because we want the focus to remain on the process and the standards, not on individual personalities. However, every panel member is verified through our specialist vetting process and has:

Our panel currently includes specialists with experience across the full range of Land Rover models — from classic Defenders to the latest L663, from Discovery Sport to Range Rover L460, and from Jaguar XF to F‑Pace. This breadth ensures that our content is grounded in real‑world experience, not just one mechanic's perspective.

The Review Process — How Content Gets Checked

Every article we publish goes through a multi‑stage review, and we don't cut corners.

  1. Drafting — Our editorial team writes the first draft based on proprietary enquiry data, supplier quotes, manufacturer TSBs, and public sources. All numbers are tagged with their source.
  2. Expert review — The draft is sent to at least one panel member whose expertise matches the engine or topic. They check the technical accuracy of every claim, including failure mechanisms, diagnostic steps, and cost bands.
  3. Revision — We incorporate their feedback. If there is a disagreement (for example, on a repair procedure or a typical mileage for a failure), we research further or consult a second panel member.
  4. Final sign‑off — Once the panel member is satisfied, the article is scheduled for publication. The review date is recorded, and we keep a log of which panel member reviewed each piece (for internal records only).
  5. Post‑publication updates — When new data or a new TSB emerges, we repeat the process. We also review all articles at least once a year to ensure they remain current.

This process is documented in our editorial standards, and any corrections resulting from a review are logged in our corrections log.

How We Select Expert Panel Members

We don't just ask anyone. We actively seek out specialists who meet a clear set of criteria.

We also rotate panel members periodically to bring in fresh perspectives and to avoid any single person dominating the editorial voice. All panel members are covered by a confidentiality agreement regarding our enquiry data and internal processes.

Our selection process is part of our broader commitment to data verification and specialist vetting.

Independence & Managing Conflicts of Interest

Our expert panel is independent, and we make sure they stay that way.

Panel members are paid a fixed fee per review — the same rate regardless of the article's content or the conclusions we draw. They do not receive bonuses, commissions, or any form of performance‑related pay. We believe that paying for time, not for agreement, is the only way to get honest feedback.

We also have a strict policy that panel members cannot:

If a panel member feels that an article contains a commercial bias or an unfair representation, they are encouraged to flag it. We take those concerns seriously and will delay publication until they are resolved.

What Our Expert Panel Reviews

Every piece of technical content on this site is covered — but not everything needs the same depth of review.

We divide our content into three review tiers:

We maintain a log of which tier each page falls into, and we review this classification annually. Our methodology page explains how we handle data sources for different content types.

What Our Expert Panel Does Not Do

We are clear about the boundaries of our panel's role.

These boundaries protect our editorial independence and ensure that our panel remains a source of technical expertise, not a source of commercial influence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the expert panel members?

We do not publish individual names to protect their privacy and to keep the focus on the process rather than personalities. They are all working JLR specialists with at least 10 years of experience, and they are vetted through our published criteria.

How can I become a panel member?

We review applications periodically. If you are a specialist with demonstrable JLR experience and no commercial conflicts, you can express interest through our contact page. We prioritise specialists who have a track record of technical contributions.

Are panel members paid by the suppliers you recommend?

No. They are paid a fixed fee for their review time by us, independent of any supplier relationship. They do not receive commissions, bonuses, or any form of payment tied to our commercial arrangements.

How do you handle disagreements between panel members?

When two panel members disagree on a technical point, we research further — often consulting manufacturer TSBs or additional specialists. We then make a decision based on the weight of evidence, not on majority vote.

Independent — Panel members have no commercial ties to our specialist network.

Practical Experience — Every member is a working mechanic, not a theorist.

Transparent Process — Our review workflow and corrections log are public.

Accountable — We resolve disagreements through evidence, not silence.
