Step 1 — Find your VIN. Your 17‑digit VIN is visible through the windscreen on the driver's side, on the door jamb sticker, or in your V5C logbook.

What's Covered by a Recall — and What Isn't

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer identifies a defect that could affect the safety of the vehicle. Recall remedies are always free of charge at authorised dealerships.

✔️ Covered by recall: factory‑identified safety defects, such as EGR cooler fires, timing chain tensioner failures that could cause sudden loss of power, fuel system leaks, and airbag or electrical issues that affect safety.

❌ Not covered by recall: general wear and tear, age‑related failures, or known faults that are not safety‑critical. For example, a timing chain tensioner failure that occurs after 100,000 miles on an engine with a known design weakness may be a known fault but not a recall — the difference is critical when deciding whether the repair is free or chargeable.
